U.V. clarifiers are an important addition to your filter, often built into the filter or mounted on the side of the filter, they work by allowing the water to pass closely by a germicidal tube emitting large amounts of U.V. light. As the algae passes by the U.V. light breaks down the cell structure and destroys the algae.
